SCOPRI DI PIù
Just 5 km from Bra, of which it is a hamlet, Pollenzo is a destination to visit leisurely, immersing yourself in a story with ancient roots. It was founded in Roman times, when it was a strategic centre for the communication routes of the time. In those days, ancient Pollentia was the largest town between Alba Pompeia and Augusta Bagiennorum (now Bene Vagienna), and even today its layout bears clear traces of the past. Evidence of its Roman origins can be seen in the Amphitheatre, which is the largest of the known ancient Roman amphitheatres in Piedmont. Ellipsoidal in shape, it was the building where gladiators fought, and its remains are now incorporated into private buildings, arranged around the central body, which faithfully follow the ancient layout of the construction.
