‘La Venaria Reale’ Conservation and Restoration Centre is a foundation that was set up in 2005 as part of the major redevelopment of the monumental complex of the Reggia di Venaria. It is located in the former 18th-century stables and riding school, designed and built by Benedetto Alfieri in 1758. The founding members' decision to establish a centre for advanced training and research in the field of artistic and cultural heritage conservation addresses the need to develop a new strategic hub in Piedmont. Founders: Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali, Regione Piemonte, Città Metropolitana di Torino, Municipality of Torino, Municipality of Venaria Reale, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino, Compagnia di San Paolo, Università degli Studi di Torino. The Centre's areas of activity are:
  • Restoration Workshops
  • Scientific and Advanced Diagnosis Laboratories
  • Advanced Training School
  • Educational Services
The Venaria Reale Centre is responsible for the conservation and restoration of works of art, antique furniture, wooden artefacts, paintings, sculptures and other cultural heritage items, as well as modern artefacts, an example being the restoration of industrial design works that won an award at the prestigious Compasso d'Oro competition. Its goal is to preserve and maintain the artistic and historical heritage at the Reggia di Venaria Reale and other cultural institutions, also at international level, with works such as the restoration of the flooring of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, in optimal conditions.
