Church of the Holy Trinity

Located along the path to ‘La Rocca’, the Church of the Holy Trinity, also known as the Church of the Battuti Bianchi, is a treasure trove of Baroque art. Understated on the outside, it surprises visitors inside with its stucco work, frescoes and high, bright nave.
SCOPRI DI PIù
Departing from Piazza Caduti per la Libertà and walking along the raised walkway built on the nineteenth-century wing of the market, you will come to the area known to the people of Bra as “La Rocca”, a place for meeting and socialising. Along the way, you will come across the birthplace of St. Giuseppe Benedetto Cottolengo, recognisable by a plaque on the façade. Born in Bra, Cottolengo became a central figure in the 19th-century Piedmontese Social Saints movement, founding the famous Piccola Casa della Divina Provvidenza (Little House of Divine Providence) in Turin, dedicated to helping the most vulnerable. A little further on is the Church of the Holy Trinity, known locally as the Church of the Battuti Bianchi. Built in 1624 and carefully restored in 1832, the church catches the eye thanks to the strong contrast between its understated exterior and surprisingly rich interior. The single nave, high and flooded with light, is covered by a barrel vault and embellished with lavish stuccoes and frescoes, making it one of the masterpieces of Piedmontese Baroque in the town. The church bears witness to a long tradition of worship and charity rooted in the fabric of the town and is an integral part of Bra's spiritual and cultural heritage.
